Beat The Sunset 2023
TEAM UP TO BATTLE AGAINST THE SETTING SUN.
Sunday January 8 — 12 PM (NOON) TO SUNSET – Tucheng DingPU
Beat the Sunset is a one-of-a-kind event in Taiwan where you and your teammates race against the setting sun.
HOW IT WORKS:
There is a 2.9 km trail/road loop that includes a nice climb through nature, and brings you back where you hand off your baton to your teammate to keep the race going. There are three types of teams: Superteam Quads – a team of four runners, Dynamic Duos – teams of 2 runners, and Solo Survivors – just a single person who loves running.
The fastest teams will be awarded prizes, everyone who finishes at least a lap gets a finishers medal.
All participants will also receive a registration gift, finisher gift, plenty of drinks and snacks during the race including a lunch.
10:30 – Out of town runners arrive and pick up bibs/gifts and get checked in to our race timing system. Please arrive early, as this takes a lot of time.
12:00 – First runners begin their laps. Partners must remain on-site and ready for when their teammate returns.
2:30 – Lunch meal for participants is served. Bring your own bowl and utensils.
4:50 – Runners cannot begin a new lap.
5:20 – Competition ends. After this time, no returning runners will be awarded points that contribute to their score.
6:00 – Official results available.
6:30 – Awards ceremony for top finishers. Lucky draw raffle will also take place throughout the event.
7:00 – Event closes.
EARLY – 1400 NTD per runner / ENDS October 15 (Sunset)
REGULAR – 1500 NTD per runner / ENDS November 15 (Sunset)
LATE REGISTRATION TBD - pending open spots
Solo, Duo, or Superteam
This team formation is great for all level of runners.
Teams of sprinters will run their hearts out. Families will run or hike to complete at least one lap of the course each.
Expected run time per runner: 40 minutes (if you just do one lap), 1.25 hours for fast teams.
Expected distance per runner: 3+km to 12km+
We usually get a mix of badass athletes and good friends who want to see what they are capable of.
Expected total run time per runner: 3 hours.
Expected distance per runner of winners: up to 20+ km
This is the toughest challenge. You will take on the approximate 4km loop all by yourself, so choose your pace wisely, take plenty of breaks, run a lap with a puppy, and have fun.
Expected run time: 5+ hours
Expected distance of winner: 35+ km

GATHER YOUR TEAM
First, you must decide which event you want to join and gather your teammates.
Solo Survivor – a team of one.

Superteam Quads – find three other runners or talk your family members into joining you.
Pick a fierce team name 🙂

Second, get your team signed up and if you want to win, then you should start training.
Keep an eye on the event FB page to see if we have any training meet ups.
